HDMI vs DVI - Which is Better?

Are you looking out to buy a dvd player/TV/home theatre? Then you are probably worrying about HDMI Vs DVI questions: which is better? Are they compatible? HDMI Vs DVI, which should I opt?

Which is better? HDMI or DVI?

Let's first understand what they are. Both of them are standards for carrying digital signals between a source like your set top box or Blu-ray disc player and your TV. High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), which connects like USB, is a licensable audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed, encrypted digital streams. HDMI was derived from DVI. It has more bandwidth capability (5Gbps to 10Gbps). Unlike DVI, which needs a separate cable to carry audio, HDMI uses a single cable for video and audio making the cabling less bulky. Not just that, HDMI cables can go up to 15m length, giving you the flexibility to design your living room.

HDMI supports automatic screen format conversion. It can automatically convert a picture into its most appropriate format, such as a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. HDMI produces pictures that are sharper and smoother (up to 1080pi resolution). Though DVI can produce similar picture quality, HDMI betters it in audio.

Are HDMI and DVI compatible?

HDMI is fully'backward'compatible with DVI. For example, if you have a dvd player with a DVI connection and a HDMI LCD TV, it works. All you need is a HDMI/DVI adapter. But some HDMI features will be lost if you use an adapter like automatic screen format conversion and universal remote control.

HDMI Vs DVI

If you are buying both HDTV and a video player like Blu-ray Disc player, I suggest you go for HDMI for both. You can free up your living room of messy cables that you find in other home theatres. You can use a single remote to operate all the devices connected and it provides the best video and audio. But if you already have one of a DVI source or DVI TV and then just go for a DVI for the other one as well because going for HDMI does not increase the overall quality of experience.

Overall, I recommend HDMI because it gives you better quality of video and audio, has lesser cables and gives you the universal remote control. add the DRM (Digital Rights Management) angle to it, HDMI may well be the standard in days to come.

Planet Xanadar Perfecto-How to Make Yourself Glorious

Once upon a time there was a planet in a distant galaxy whose inhabitants all had perfectly proportioned bodies. Everyone was beautiful and had all the curves in the right places, but no one was happy because they longed to meet people who were different. So they sent to earth for men and women to bring back to their planet to marry. But these people on earth who were not perfect became perfect as soon as they landed on this distant planet, the magnificent Planet Xanadar.

So the Xanadarians could only find imperfect people if they came to earth to live. Many of them did that and they became movie stars and rock stars and fashion models and they all married imperfect people and lived happily ever after. Well, not the movie stars.

So if you want to be perfect either you go to Planet Xanadar and become perfect, or send the person who wants you to be perfect there and he or she will see how unhappy the perfect people are and will come back and fall in love with you.

I dont know how the Xanadarians deal with kissing; you will just have to find that out for yourself.

How to Install the N64 Emulator to Your PSP

Generally speaking, an emulator is a program (either in software or firmware form) whose main purpose is to mimic the functionalities of a particular system in another system. Once installed, the host system will be able to almost faithfully run programs designed for another system. There are two types of emulators. First is the software emulator that is installed in PCs to enable it to work on a different software program from the one which was originally installed. This allows the PC to accept the game software and play it. The second type of emulator is the hardware emulator which comes in the form of a hardware device or component that contains firmware that instructs the PC on what to do when particular game software are loaded.

Both game console and game software developers "unofficially" encourage the development of emulators because, for the game console developer, it allows the quick introduction of a new console because it can accept games developed for other systems or versions. On the other hand, for game software developers, it expands the utility of their software, thereby increasing their addressable market size. By doing so, their sales potential increases by a magnitude, which translates to significant profitability.

For the PSP, there are emulators that are currently available which allows the playing of popular n64 games. The reviews of these emulators are not too favorable primarily because of the speed concern (which is probably due to fundamental design differences that cannot currently be efficiently emulated). Nevertheless, these emulators give one the opportunity to play his favorite games on n64 on his PSP even just for the memories.

Installing an N64 emulator to your PSP is really dependent on the emulator you are able to get. Most of these are free and downloadable from the Internet. One emulator has the following installation instructions, which is similar to most emulator instructions:

* Download the emulator from a prescribed website into your PC's hard disk.

* Create the appropriate folder in the root directory of your PSP's memory stick to store the emulator.

* Connect your PSP to your PC via USB.

* Transfer or copy the emulator files from your PC's hard disk into the folder created in your PSP memory stick's root directory.

* Run the program every time you want to play an N64 game.

While many say that emulators make sense, there is still a major issue regarding it. This has to do with the disclosure of specifications of the game console being emulated to the company doing the emulation. These are obviously data that game console manufacturers will be very, very, reluctant to give. It would be like committing commercial suicide for them to just give away the secrets of their products.
